Groundswell is seeking an engineer who can take an incompletely defined business need and produce working software. This is a hands-on, client-facing role partnering with business stakeholders to refine requirements and design solutions.

The work spans client delivery, internal product development, rapid proofs of concept, and internal enablement. You will help customers understand what AI can do and tailor approaches to their challenges, valuing range over specialization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent demonstrated ability.
• 1+ years of professional software development experience.
• Hands-on experience building apps with large language models and prompt engineering.
• Experience integrating AI with APIs, data handling, and user-facing functionality.
• Familiarity with Python, TypeScript, or SQL and API integration.
• Ability to conduct requirements conversations with non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to question designs and propose alternatives.
• Ability to work through ambiguous requirements and drive to completion.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Take a defined technical approach and build production-quality functionality.
• Participate in requirements discussions with business stakeholders.
• Contribute ideas during design, including simplifying AI components.
• Contribute to building complete apps with AI capabilities, APIs, and data handling.
• Build evaluation sets from real data and report findings faithfully.
• Investigate failures and implement fixes.
• Support client demonstrations and proofs of concept.
• Seek feedback and continuously learn client needs and AI best practices.
• Instrument and document work with logging, validation methods, and failure handling.
• Move between client delivery, internal product work, and enablement as needed.
