Groundswell is seeking an engineer to take a technical approach to ill-defined business needs and turn them into working software. This hands-on, client-facing role partners with stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver results.

You will contribute to AI-enabled applications, evaluate outcomes, and continuously improve the solution while supporting demonstrations and early validation with customers. The role spans client delivery, internal product development, rapid proofs of concept, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent.
• 1+ years of professional software development experience.
• Hands-on experience integrating large language models, incl. prompt engineering, RAG, structured extraction, or tool use.
• Experience building AI-enabled apps with APIs, data handling and UI.
• Familiarity with Python/TypeScript/SQL and API integration.

Responsibilities

• Take defined technical approach and build production-quality functionality.
• Participate in requirements discussions with business stakeholders to understand workflow and outcomes.
• Propose alternative approaches during solution design to simplify or reduce AI components.
• Contribute to building complete applications integrating AI capabilities, APIs, data handling, and user-facing features.
• Build evaluation sets from real data and report findings, including negative results.
• Investigate failures and implement fixes.
• Support client demos and proof-of-concepts.
