Job summary

Universal Instruments, a Delta Group Company, seeks an entry-level Applications Engineer to support customers, the sales team, and the BU product group while learning to apply UIBU tooling to evolving needs.

The role involves pre- and post-sale engagement, developing quotations, and collaborating with design teams, with frequent interaction with customers for feasible solutions and timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline; 0-2 years of experience in capital goods, preferably sales or support of automated assembly or test solutions.
• Experience with design tools such as SolidWorks and PTC CREO is preferred.
• Ability to complete solution line drawings for field sales / customers.
• Automation equipment programming, and debugging aptitude is preferred.
• MS Office Suite proficiency is expected.

Responsibilities

• Reviews customer's products and processes against UIBU solution approaches and identifies projected savings.
• Works with Sr. Applications Engineers to engage sales and customers on pre-sale or post-sale product issues; evaluates feasibility and alternatives.
• Learns to evaluate priority of requested product applications/modifications and drives sales to enter RFQ when feasible.
• Assists Sales with technical customer presentations and acceptance criteria.
• Participates in engineering reviews to determine feasibility of product applications or modifications and communicates alternatives when needed.
• Helps develop quotations including development time, cost and schedule.
• Assists Sr. Engineering with justification of product applications/modifications quotations to the customer.
• Participates in developing solutions with design teams and coordinates with supply chain to procure necessary materials.
• Assembles and tests applications tooling and integrates into base machines.
• Supports installation to ensure machines and equipment meet customer specifications.
• Participates in trade shows and technical seminars to enhance Universal's reputation for product capability.
