Ontario Trillium Foundation is seeking an entry-level Applications Engineer to gain experience supporting customers, the sales organization, and the product team. This position seeks to gain experience providing application engineering support to our customer base, sales organization and the Business Unit product team, as well as understand our customer's existing and evolving technical application needs.This role will grow to apply and adapt UIBU products to satisfy those needs.Provides support both before and after the sale, and supports all issues with and through company technical resources to insure accurate, detailed understanding and timely resolution of customer requirements.
Reviews customer's products, processes against the possible UIBU solution approaches and identifies projected savings based upon use of proposed equipment.
Works with Sr. Applications Engineers to engage sales and customers on pre-sale or post-sale product and process application issues; With the customer, evaluates feasibility and alternatives.
This role will learn to evaluate priority of requested product applications/modifications, as they relate to customer expectations and timing, as well as product team resource availability.
Assists Sales with technical customer presentations, and customer acceptance criteria.
Participating with the engineering review team to determine if requested product applications or modifications are feasible; If so, drives sales to enter RFQ.If not, responds to customer and sales person with alternatives.
Learning to develop quotations, including development time, cost and schedule.
Assists Sr. Engineering with justification of product applications/modifications quotations to the customer.
Participates in developing solutions working with the design teams and work with supply chain to procure the materials necessary to manufacture applications tooling.
Assembles and test applications tooling and integrates into base machines.
Supports installation to ensure machines and equipment are installed and function to customer specifications.
Participates in trade shows and technical seminars to enhance Universal's reputation for product capability.
Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline and 0-2 years of experience within capital goods, preferably sale or support of automated assembly or test solutions.
Experience with CAD design tools such as SolidWorks and PTC Creo is preferred
Ability to complete solutions line drawings for field sales / customers.
Automation equipment programming and debugging aptitude is preferred.
MS Office Suite proficiency is expected.
Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem solving tools to continuously improve work processes.
Ability to use a computer on a frequent basis.
Ability to understand and interpret detailed documents and drawings.
Must be able to communicate clearly with fellow colleagues and in giving presentations.
Ability to travel to customer sites or technical conferences approximately 25% of the time.
