Overview

The Application Support Administrator acts as a resource for the IT Service Desk Team, providing infrastructure support to all lines of business at MFA Oil Company. This includes desktops, laptops, handheld devices, servers, and PC-based point of sale (POS) systems.

This role involves researching and analyzing technology and process improvements for computer equipment, applications, training, and managing the centralized c-store POS configuration system.

Additionally, the role supports company network administrators with location-based network communications systems, including routers, switches, cabling, and telephony systems.

Responsibilities
  • Prioritize and coordinate daily tasks and implementation responsibilities related to computer systems, collaborating with stakeholders including equipment suppliers, credit card processors, POS suppliers, IT department, and field and office teams.
  • Identify issues and opportunities for application improvements.
  • Recommend and implement upgrades or changes to enhance system performance and resolve issues.
  • Administer retail server and workstation systems, providing remote management across a large geographic area.
  • Support all hardware/software/server systems, including after-hours emergency escalation.
  • Assist in designing and updating POS layouts, keeping management informed of system updates.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Operations to design, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN networks, ensuring PCI compliance.
  • Manage and troubleshoot telephony systems in partnership with Engineering Operations.
  • Travel to remote sites or training sessions as needed, up to 25% travel.
  • Provide helpdesk and Tier II support for break/fix issues.
  • Mentor team members, document processes, and facilitate knowledge transfer.
  • Track and report on project progress.
  • Stay informed on industry developments related to POS and communicate relevant information to management.
  • Engage in ongoing education through seminars, publications, and training.
  • Adhere to company policies and perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three years of IT support experience.
  • Basic networking knowledge.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Understanding of change management processes.
  • Availability for on-call emergency support.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Fluent in English for communication purposes.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background and drug tests.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Complete required Service Desk training within one year of hire or promotion.
