Job Summary

Responsible for managing reporting APPs and APP supervisors, including activities related to patient care, service line development, quality improvement, strategic planning, and policy enforcement. Assesses staffing effectiveness, mentors staff, and oversees administrative duties such as hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and compliance with review standards. Represents APPs to external review bodies.

The position is typically 50% administrative and 50% clinical, with flexibility based on departmental needs. Note: This is a 40-hour role that may include off-shifts, weekends, and holidays. Provides leadership within designated specialties, with potential for expansion.

Essential Functions

  1. Collaborate with leadership to identify growth and improvement opportunities.
  2. Evaluate workforce needs and approve staffing requests.
  3. Assist with recruitment, retention, and recognition efforts.
  4. Monitor financial metrics like billing, reimbursement, and utilization.
  5. Oversee CE/CME policies and expenses.
  6. Develop peer review and quality metrics, assist with chart reviews.
  7. Advise on professional evaluation processes.
  8. Manage change within the service line, oversee clinical training, and education.
  9. Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
  10. Oversee scheduling and coordinate with supervisors.
  11. Work clinically in 50% of the time in area of expertise.

Supervision

  • The APP Manager reports to the APP Director and physician leader, collaborating on clinical duties.

Supervision Exercised

  • Admin supervision over APPs in assigned areas.

Candidate Requirements

Physician Assistant: Licensure, certification, DEA, BLS, 5+ years clinical, 2+ years leadership.

Nurse Practitioner: Licensure, certification, DEA, BLS, 5+ years clinical, 2+ years leadership.
