Job Summary

Responsible for managing reporting APPs and APP supervisors, including activities related to patient care, service line development, quality improvement, strategic planning, and policy enforcement. Ensures APP clinical work adheres to scope of practice and hospital protocols. Assesses staffing effectiveness, mentors staff, and oversees administrative duties such as hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and compliance with OPPE/FPPE. Represents APPs to external review bodies like the Joint Commission and American College of Surgeons.

The position is typically 50% administrative and 50% clinical, with flexibility based on departmental needs. It is a 40-hour role that may include off-shift hours, weekends, and holidays. The role provides leadership within specific specialties, with potential for expansion.

Essential Functions
  1. Collaborate with leadership to identify growth opportunities and process improvements.
  2. Evaluate and adjust APP staffing based on clinical needs.
  3. Lead recruitment, retention, and recognition efforts for APPs.
  4. Ensure financial integrity by monitoring billing, reimbursement, and utilization metrics.
  5. Oversee CE/CME policies and expenditures.
  6. Develop peer review and quality metrics, assist with chart reviews, and develop FPPE protocols.
  7. Manage change within the service line and oversee clinical training and education.
  8. Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as necessary.
  9. Coordinate scheduling and respond to staffing changes.
  10. Maintain clinical practice in the designated area of expertise.
Supervision and Qualifications

Supervision Received: Dual reporting to the APP Director and physician leader.

Supervision Exercised: Administrative oversight of APPs.

Candidate Requirements: Valid licensure, certification, DEA registration, BLS, and relevant clinical and leadership experience for Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners.
