Job summary

Preferred Apartment Communities is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to support apartment communities in the Charlotte area. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, handle resident requests, and help prepare units for new residents.

Your role includes after-hours emergency response, ensuring safety, and keeping equipment and common areas in good condition. A valid driver's license and Refrigeration certification are required or obtainable within 90 days.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years maintenance experience (apartment maintenance preferred).
• Troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
• Budget or basic business finance helpful.
• Refrigeration certification (type 2 or universal) or obtain in the first 90 days.
• Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintenance requests, preventative maintenance and amenity area upkeep.
• Complete maintenance work orders for residents (appliances, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, gates, pool, etc.).
• Respond to emergency maintenance after hours and weekends.
• Prepare vacant apartments to rent-ready condition.
• Keep the maintenance shop clean and stocked with parts.
• Interact with residents and log service requests in the system.
• Assist in monitoring contractors' work and support budget goals.
• Follow company policies; prioritize customer service.
• Perform light cleaning if needed in the absence of housekeeping.
