Job summary

Preferred Apartment Communities is seeking an Apartment Maintenance Technician to join our team in Charlotte, NC. You will handle preventive and reactive maintenance, service calls, and apartment turnovers, while upholding safety and quality standards.

You will coordinate with the Maintenance Manager, manage stock, and ensure resident satisfaction through timely, professional service. A valid license and refrigeration certification are required or obtainable within 90 days.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years maintenance experience (apartment maintenance experience preferred).
• Troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Budget or basic business finance helpful.
• Refrigeration certification (type 2 or universal) or obtain in the first 90 days of employment.
• Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all maintenance requests, preventative maintenance, and amenity area maintenance for the apartment community.
• Complete maintenance work orders (appliances, plumbing, HVAC, minor electrical, gate systems, pool operations).
• Respond to and resolve emergency maintenance requests after business hours (weeknights, weekends, holidays).
• Prepare vacant apartments to make rent ready.
• Perform preventative maintenance work.
• Maintain shop, stock of parts, and enter service requests into the database.
• Assist in monitoring contractors’ work performance.
• Support the Maintenance Manager in meeting budget responsibilities.
• Promote company policies and customer service as a priority.
• If no housekeeper, perform light cleaning of models, club houses, leasing office, grounds.
• Maintain all amenity areas (pool, weight rooms, parking decks).
