Job summary

Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Control is seeking an admissions clerk to handle adoptions, redemptions, and related paperwork with accuracy and strong customer service. The role requires responding to inquiries from the public and maintaining detailed records for each animal.

You will assist with cash handling, social media outreach, and community events while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; two years general office experience including public contact.
• Ability to operate a PC and MS Word; Publisher and Excel preferred.
• Experience with cash handling and deposits.
• Ability to type proficiently.
• Knowledge of basic recordkeeping and office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform adoptions, redemptions, and paperwork with attention to detail and customer service.
• Respond to phones, emails, and walk-ins regarding shelter policies, availability, and other office information.
• Maintain a variety of records, logs, and documentation.
• Receive and record cash payments for adoptions and redemptions; balance cash drawer daily.
• Market animals for adoption using social media.
• Research animal ownership using microchip and ID tag databases and other resources.
• Represent Animal Control during community outreach events.
• Perform janitorial duties as assigned.
