Perform admission functions for the Animal Control Shelter. Serve as primary contact for all customers.

REPORTS TO: Animal Control Manager
POSITIONS SUPERVISED:
- Perform adoptions, redemptions, and paperwork associated with animals in the shelter, with attention to detail and customer service.
- Respond to phones calls, emails, and walk-ins regarding shelter policies, lost and found animals, animal availability, and other office information.
- Responsible for accurately maintaining a variety of records, various logs, and other documentation.
- Receive and record cash payments for adoptions and redemptions of animals and other Division cash transactions. Balance cash drawer daily.
- Market animals for adoption using social media.
- Research animal ownership using microchip and ID tag databases and other resources.
- Represent Animal Control during community outreach events.
- Perform janitorial duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Two years of general office experience of which one year must be working with the public;.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer for a variety of computer programs (MS Word required, Publisher and Excel preferred ). Previous exposure to an electronic record system preferred. Ability to type at a proficient level. Ability to operate a variety of office machines (copier, scanner, fax, multi-function phone, printers etc.).
- Experience with cash handling and deposits.

- Ability to write legibly and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and courteously under stressful, highly emotional situations with the general public, other organizations/agencies, and other employees.
- Demonstrated ability to comprehend and carry out oral and written instructions, to apply FNSB Code governing Animal Control Operations to varied situations, and to perform work in a timely, orderly, and accurate manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be able to post on Borough Social Media Accounts.
OTHER
- A PROFICIENCY TEST MAY BE ADMINISTERED.
- Successful applicant may be required to take a series of rabies prophylaxis vaccinations.
- This position requires a criminal background check.

Supervisor responsibilities: Does not supervise; experiences minor problems daily and occasional major ones that must be resolved on own initiative with little immediate supervision; the consequences of error, carelessness or mistaken judgment require minimal effort to recover.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
General office where conditions are pleasant but with somewhat disagreeable conditions (noise and odors); minor accident probability exists; requires short periods of light lifting, pushing or pulling (1-25 lbs.).
