Job summary

Abbott is hiring an Assistant Chemist I for the Sturgis, MI plant. The role supports testing of raw materials, in-process, and finished products in a clean, temperature-controlled environment. You will maintain GMP/GLP, document training, and collaborate with chemists and operators to ensure timely quality results.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; additional college lab studies or math courses are strongly preferred.
• 1 year of college lab studies and 1 year of math (algebra/geometry/trigonometry/calculus) plus 2 years lab experience OR 4 years manufacturing experience in food/pharma.
• Science-related Associate or Bachelor’s degree with related lab experience is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Test raw materials, in-process samples, and finished product per quality procedures.
• Maintain GMP and GLP in the lab and ensure specifications meet quality guidelines.
• Troubleshoot minor testing problems and communicate results to chemist I lead.
• Document training and maintain training records; support environmental sampling per lab methods.
