Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member will coach and mentor students to achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. You will plan and monitor progress with teachers, deliver targeted supports, and help create a safe, engaging classroom environment.

Training is provided, with ongoing collaboration with partner teachers for in-class support and after-school enrichment. A bi-weekly living stipend and location-specific benefits are offered to successful candidates.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident and able to work in the U.S.
• Age 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• GED or high school diploma or equivalent; some college or degree preferred.
• No more than three AmeriCorps terms served previously.
• Willingness to undergo a background check and start by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups to support academic success and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress; collaborate with teachers on instruction and assessment.
• Develop literacy, math, and behavioral supports; create engaging classroom environments.
• Contribute to school-wide initiatives and after-school/enrichment programs.
• Assist with data collection and monitoring in City Year’s student data system.
