University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians, Inc. is seeking a Surgical Scheduler to coordinate whole-case scheduling for clinic physicians.

You will manage pre-operative appointments, testing, and associated processes to ensure smooth patient flow and continuity of care. In this role, you will verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and communicate with patients, surgeons, vendors, and hospital staff about the surgical plan.

Qualifications

• 2 years in an Ambulatory Healthcare environment
• 2 years customer service
• 2 years working with third party payors (insurance carriers)

Responsibilities

• Coordinates scheduling of pre-operative appointments including preadmission testing, history and physical, and related tests/services.
• Instructs patients on administrative, financial and pre-operative processes.
• Verifies insurance coverage, obtains authorization, submits required information and communicates with patient, vendors, surgeon and hospital about the plan.
• Provides excellent customer service for patients/families and treatment team.
• Uses internal EPIC scheduling system and external processes.
• Identifies equipment/personnel needed for each case.
• Reviews authorization reports and determines if procedures match and if after-hours surgeries require authorization.
• Prepares reports and educates staff on new processes, policies and procedures.
• Attends Referral/Surgical Coordinator trainings and meetings.
• Travel up to 10%.
