Job summary

UF Health in Florida is seeking an Ambulatory Surgery Scheduler to direct the scheduling activities for clinic physicians, ensuring continuity of care through adherence to administrative, financial, and operational policies.

You will coordinate pre-operative appointments, verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and liaise with patients, surgeons and hospital staff to optimize patient flow and scheduling accuracy.

Qualifications

• Ambulatory healthcare experience required.
• Customer service experience required.
• Experience with third party payors (insurance carriers) required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate scheduling of pre-operative appointments including testing and related services.
• Instruct patients on administrative, financial and pre-operative processes.
• Verify insurance coverage, obtain authorization, and communicate the surgical plan to patients and staff.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and care teams.
• Utilize the EPIC scheduling system and external scheduling processes.
• Identify equipment or personnel needs for each surgical case.
• Prepare reports and educate staff on new policies and procedures.
• Participate as a care team member in coordinating patient care.
• Attend Referral/Surgical Coordinator training sessions and meetings.
• Travel up to 10% as required.
