Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks an Immediate Care Technician to support physicians and healthcare teams. You will help manage patient flow, collect vitals, and assist in procedures while maintaining clean, safe exam rooms.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and certification within six months (CMA/RMA/NCMA/CCMA/NRCMA) with BLS and EMT options. EMR familiarity and strong communication are expected.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Must obtain one of eligible medical assistant certifications within six months.
• Certifications include CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA or NRCMA.
• EMT-Basic or EMT-Paramedic or Illinois EMT License required upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with clinical workflows.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient flow and escort patients to exam rooms.
• Obtain accurate vital signs and document visit reasons, allergies, smoking history and pharmacy information.
• Assist MD/APP with procedures (ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, wound care) per protocols.
• Prepare exam rooms, stock supplies, and maintain inventory and equipment.
• Support referrals, transfers and discharge processes.
• Promote patient satisfaction through professional and friendly interactions.
