Job summary

The Healing Place of New Hanover County seeks an Alumni & Life Skills Coordinator to build an active alumni community, grow a volunteer base, and lead practical life skills programming for clients moving toward recovery and independence.

Reporting to the Director of Development, this program-focused role is distinct from fundraising, ensuring privacy and trauma-informed, culturally responsive instruction across sessions and partner collaborations.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of group facilitation, teaching, peer support, case management, or volunteer management experience.
• Behavioral health or substance use treatment experience preferred.
• Lived recovery experience strongly preferred (minimum 2 years).
• NC Certified Peer Support Specialist credential preferred or willingness to obtain within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and grow a structured alumni program engaging graduates post-discharge.
• Coordinate life skills curriculum including budgeting, employment readiness, housing navigation, and wellness.
• Recruit, orient, and coordinate volunteers and instructors; ensure quality and schedule adherence.
• Collaborate with program managers on discharge planning and connection to community supports.
• Document attendance and outcomes; ensure HIPAA/42 CFR Part 2 compliance.
• Represent the program in community events and partner meetings.
