Job summary

The State of Alaska, Department of Public Safety, seeks an Emergency Services Dispatcher 1 in Fairbanks to answer emergency and non-emergency calls via radio and phone, supporting field units across the state. You will handle high-stress situations with professionalism and maintain confidentiality while working shifts, including weekends and holidays.

A background check is required and Alaska residency is necessary to be considered at this time.

Qualifications

• Two years of work experience, including six months of clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
• Typing speed at least 30 words per minute with no more than three errors per minute.
• An education/work experience combo may substitute up to 18 months of non-specific work experience.

Responsibilities

• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls via radio and phone for areas throughout Alaska.
• Maintain positivity and resiliency while supporting field enforcement units at the Northen Operations Center.
• Display professionalism, compassion and support to the public, field units, civilian staff and coworkers.
