Job summary

Mead & Hunt, Inc. is seeking a full-time, limited-term civil engineering intern to support construction inspection on airport projects. The role is based in Chicago, IL with travel across IL, WI, MI and IN. Internship runs May/June 2027 through August/September 2027.

You will assist engineers, technicians and surveyors, perform field inspections, measurements, and prepare pay estimates, with opportunities for technical writing and project reporting.

Qualifications

• Two semesters of college-level coursework in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, enterprise systems, construction management or related field.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Frequent travel to construction sites, approximately 50–80% of the time, may include overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers, technicians and surveyors on civil airport projects (taxiways, runways, aprons, etc.).
• Perform measurements, quantity calculations and prepare pay estimates.
• Assist with project report preparation and field inspections.
