Job summary

Mead & Hunt, Inc. is seeking a limited-term, full-time Civil Engineering Intern to support construction inspection on aviation projects in the greater Madison, WI area and statewide sites.

This internship runs from May/June 2027 through August/September 2027 and requires travel to project sites about 95–100% of the time, including possible overnight stays. Successful candidates will have completed at least two semesters of civil engineering coursework and may have experience with AutoCAD,

Qualifications

• Two semesters of college-level coursework in civil engineering or related field completed by hire date.
• Construction field experience including observation and documentation.
• Previous internships involving construction, DOT projects, surveying or civil site inspections.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and Civil3D software.
• Understanding of basic grading and testing processes.
• Knowledge of airport planning and/or design.
• Survey tasks.
• Civil/survey engineering coursework.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers, technicians and surveyors on civil aviation projects (taxiways, runways, aprons).
• Perform measurements and quantity calculations; help prepare pay estimates.
• Assist with project report preparation and documentation.
• Conduct field inspections and survey work; some technical research and writing.
• Support other tasks as assigned.
