The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) seeks a permanent Principal Administrative Associate to perform detailed clerical work across multiple databases including CATS, CRM, DOS, and FMS. Responsibilities include handling public inquiries, processing permit fees, reviewing boiler registrations, and managing daily mail and summons documentation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and two years of progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, including one year in an administrative capacity.
  • Alternative: associate degree and three years of experience with supervisory duties.
  • Alternative: high school diploma and four years of progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year supervisory.
  • Education/experience equivalence with one year of supervisory experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the public by phone, in person, and email regarding permitting status and filing requirements.
  • Process and manage fees for air permits and applications in FMS and Excel.
  • Review boiler registrations in CATS and investigate property violations using multiple databases.
  • Sort daily mail and prepare application files for inspections.
  • Process summons in CRM and compile packages for service to Albany.
