Job summary

Delta Airlines in Charleston, USA is hiring a Cargo Agent – Customer Service to ensure shipments arrive on time and uphold Delta’s high standards of service. You will load and unload cargo, operate ground support equipment, and assist customers with timely, accurate handling of freight.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (equivalent).
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds regularly and 70 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to work rotating schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in all weather conditions.
• Proficient in English with strong oral and written communication skills.
• Prior forklift operation or willing to receive training.
• Basic computer literacy and ability to use a laptop.
• Pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical (PAT). An airport badge with a customs seal may be required.
• Pass a thorough background check and fingerprinting.
• Eligible to work in the United States.
• Ready to wear required company‑accepted personal protective equipment.
• COVID‑19 vaccination may be required if not already vaccinated.

Responsibilities

• Operate ground support equipment, including tugs, forklifts, and tow tractors.
• Work shift hours of 20‑40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.
• Lift, load, and transport cargo and mail to and from aircraft, ensuring timely and safe deliveries.
• Protect cargo and mail from damage, loss, and weather conditions.
• Operate scanners and computers to route mail and cargo efficiently.
• Perform safety‑aware behaviors in all operational activities and under time constraints.
• Repeat lifting and loading of shipments onto carts, ensuring each item is secured for its destination.
• Operate tugs, forklifts, and tow tractors within congested areas.
