Job summary

EY is exploring Challenger, a program delivering next-generation AI-enabled services. This role seeks an engineer with founder-like ownership to turn AI demos into durable products, from user conversations to secure services, with fast iteration and strong focus on accessibility, maintainability, and clear trade-offs.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years of experience across full‑stack engineering, applied AI, and live-service ownership, with a Bachelor’s in a relevant field and comfort with up-to-50%

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant and applicable experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study.
• End-to-end delivery from concept to launch and adoption.
• Technical breadth across modern frontend, backend, API, data, and cloud tech.
• Applied AI experience with large language models, retrieval, tools, or similar patterns.
• Evaluation experience with automated testing and behavioral evaluation.
• Live-service ownership including telemetry, debugging, reliability, incident response, recovery.
• User-centered practice with direct collaboration with users, designers, and product leaders.
• Engineering craft with clear specifications and maintainable code.
• Up to 50% travel and hybrid office flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Start with the user by working with users and domain experts to map workflows and identify AI value.
• Test assumptions quickly with concise specifications, prototypes, and small releases.
• Own complete product slices across experience, services, data, AI behavior, and integrations.
• Shape AI behavior with instructions, context, retrieval, outputs, and tool use.
• Build an evidence system with automated evaluations for usefulness, safety, accessibility, and improvement.
• Instrument journeys to relate adoption and task success to system behavior and cost.
• Engineer for responsible use with clear permissions, data handling, and rollback strategies.
• Ensure production quality with incremental releases, monitoring, and incident response.
• Make pragmatic trade-offs balancing experience, quality, speed, reliability and cost.
• Share reusable patterns and evaluation assets while staying accountable for performance.
