Job summary

EY is seeking a senior engineer to join Challenger, EY’s program building the firm’s next generation of AI-enabled services. You’ll turn AI capabilities into durable products, working end-to-end from user conversations to production code with a founder-like ownership mindset.

Responsibilities span defining user-centered workflows, testing hypotheses quickly, owning complete product slices, and ensuring responsible AI use.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• End-to-end delivery: take software from concept through launch and adoption.
• Technical breadth across frontend, backend, API, data, and cloud technologies.
• Applied AI experience with LLMs, retrieval, tools, or similar patterns.
• Evaluation experience with automated testing and behavioral evaluation.
• Live-service ownership: telemetry, debugging, reliability, incident response, and performance improvements.
• User-centered practice: work with users, designers, and product leaders to inform decisions.
• Engineering craft: clear specs, maintainable code, thoughtful review, and solid trade-offs.
• Travel and On-site requirements: up to 50% travel and hybrid office capability.

Responsibilities

• Start with the user and collaborate with domain experts to identify AI value.
• Test assumptions quickly with concise specs, prototypes, and small releases.
• Own complete product slices across experience, services, data, AI behavior, and integrations.
• Shape AI behavior with instructions, context, retrieval, and structured outputs.
• Build the evidence system with tasks and evaluations for usefulness, correctness, safety, and accessibility.
• Instrument user journeys to link adoption to system performance and cost.
• Engineer for responsible use with clear permissions, data handling, and rollback.
• Maintain production quality with incremental releases, monitoring, and incident response.
• Make practical trade-offs balancing experience, quality, speed, reliability, and cost.
• Share reusable components and evaluation assets while staying accountable for performance.
