Job summary

LaunchDarkly seeks a strategic, execution-oriented Director of Internal AI Operations to scale the company’s AI initiatives, establish operational objectives, and turn AI into a measurable business capability.

You will lead reporting, portfolio management, reviews, policy operations, and transformation efforts across Finance, IT, Security, Legal, and product teams, driving governance and value realization.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in AI or technology operations, enterprise systems, data and analytics, FinOps, governance, transformation, or related field, including 5+ years leading teams or complex cross-functional programs.
• Demonstrated success designing, implementing, or scaling an operating model across multiple functions, with clear ownership, policies, processes, metrics, governance, and measurable outcomes.
• Experience managing an enterprise portfolio of AI or technology tools, vendors, integrations, or platforms, including lifecycle management, access and administration, risk and controls, contracts, usage, and spend.
• Strong financial, analytical, and data-driven mindset, with experience using tools such as Snowflake, Excel, Python, or equivalent; able to define adoption, efficiency, ROI, and business-value metrics.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining complex topics to senior leaders and persuading diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Reporting: Build visibility into AI spend and usage; develop metrics and report on tool overlap, cost drivers, and risks.
• Portfolio management: Maintain inventory of AI tools, initiatives, vendors, integrations, owners, spend, and dependencies.
• Reviews: Manage Internal AI Feature Review process with inputs from Security, Legal, IT, and business owners.
• Policy operations: Develop and maintain Internal AI Policy with Legal and Security; implement approved changes.
• Transformation and migration: Track AI roadmap, migrations, platform dependencies, adoption milestones, resourcing, risks, and decisions.
• Partnership with technology teams: Collaborate on new AI product initiatives and value delivery.
• Administration and audit: Define and audit access, configuration, data controls, logging, retention, vendor settings.
• Communications and enablement: Own AI comms calendar, updates, FAQs, launch materials, training coordination, policy communications.
• CoE coordination: Establish cadence and artifacts across distributed AI CoEs without central ownership.
