Job summary

Steampunk is seeking a hands-on Program Manager to lead a full delivery team delivering innovative technology solutions, including AI/ML-enabled capabilities. You will own day-to-day operations, client relationships, and end-to-end project outcomes, driving Agile practices and AI/ML governance across the engagement.

The role requires 10+ years in cloud/infrastructure, experience with AI/ML projects, and the ability to work onsite in the Washington, DC area 3 days per week.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in Cloud Platform infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud integration in large-scale enterprise or federal environments.
• Demonstrated experience owning full program/project delivery and client-facing accountability.
• Experience delivering AI/ML-focused projects and familiarity with AI/ML lifecycle.
• Knowledge of cloud-based AI/ML services (Azure AI, AWS SageMaker/Bedrock, Vertex AI).
• Familiarity with federal AI policy and governance requirements and translating them into project practices.
• Experience advising senior government IT leadership on modernization, automation, and AI adoption.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage day-to-day operations of the program, including staffing, schedule, and delivery quality.
• Manage client relationships and identify new opportunities with existing clients.
• Lead the full project delivery team and facilitate AI/ML discussions to troubleshoot deployment and monitoring.
• Assess and adapt Agile practices for AI/ML experimentation and iterative model development.
• Oversee Agile Scrum practices and remove blockers to ensure project success.
• Coach the Product Owner on backlog refinement and translating AI/ML use cases into actionable user stories.
• Ensure responsible AI governance and model lifecycle management.
