Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an Applied Data Scientist – AI Enablement within the HDR Transportation Business Group.

This high-impact role focuses on building internal AI capabilities, removing bottlenecks, and enabling scalable AI across HDR’s transportation portfolio. The position starts with internal solution development, expanding to client-facing AI delivery and advisory work as capabilities mature, with emphasis on governance, data pipelines, and repeatable AI services.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience with data engineering tools and languages (SQL, Power Query, Pandas).
• Minimum 3 years experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, Seaborn, Matplotlib).
• Experience with Python and R for data science initiatives.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field; Advanced degree preferred; strong communication and organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI solutions addressing internal transportation needs (e.g., document intelligence, predictive analytics, copilots).
• Build reusable AI components, data pipelines, and scalable workflows for future client delivery.
• Manage full model lifecycle: development, deployment, monitoring, drift detection, retraining, inference.
