Job summary

Gusto is seeking a technically adept Solutions Engineer to lead the discovery, scoping, and implementation of complex, production-grade agentic workflows for payroll and tax compliance. You will own technical discovery, build proofs-of-concept, and work closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering to deliver reproducible patterns for client engagements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a customer-facing technical role such as Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Architect.
• Experience shipping production systems in client-facing, ambiguous environments.
• Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, event-driven systems, auth patterns, data modeling, and failure modes.
• Hands-on experience with agentic workflows and pattern-based deployments in regulated domains.

Responsibilities

• Scope and qualify technical feasibility for enterprises early in the sales process.
• Define customer requirements so Sales, Product, and Engineering align on the problem and solution.
• Build a proof-of-concept when needed to demonstrate feasibility before full build.
• Translate deployments into a business case justifying a subscription.
• Own the build and deliver production-grade implementations for clients.
