Job summary

Gusto seeks an Enterprise Applications AI Engineer to lead AI and automation across our enterprise apps ecosystem. You will partner with Product, Engineering, Finance, People Tech, and Operations to bridge business needs with AI frameworks, designing MCPs and intelligent agents that make workflows smarter, faster, and more autonomous.

The role sits in the IT and Enterprise Applications org, contributing to the FY26 strategy by evolving ERP/Finance systems toward predictive, context-aware

Qualifications

• 8+ years in Business Systems Analysis, Enterprise Applications, or Automation roles with impact in complex environments.
• Experience building and maintaining integrations across Jira, NetSuite, or similar systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of AI agent frameworks (LangChain, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel, MCP) and MCP design.
• Familiarity with leading LLM platforms (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) and proficient prompt engineering.

Responsibilities

• Translate business needs into AI workflows with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities.
• Develop and maintain Model Context Protocols (MCPs) to connect enterprise systems to AI agents with security and documentation.
• Create and manage intelligent agents for onboarding, billing, and compliance monitoring using LLMs and orchestration frameworks.
• Govern MCPs and agents with data governance, privacy, SOX compliance, auditability, and access controls.
• Measure KPIs for automation adoption, efficiency, accuracy, reliability, and cost, guiding iteration.
• Build reusable AI frameworks and coach teams on safe, effective AI-driven workflows.
