Job summary

MISO seeks a Software Engineering Manager to lead one or more software teams, set technical direction, and drive delivery across schedule, cost, scope, and quality. You will champion AI-native and automation-first SDLC practices while aligning with engineering standards and stakeholders.

You will oversee vendor partnerships, establish goals, and recruit and coach engineers, creating growth-aligned development plans. Expect collaboration with Product Management and enterprise initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or four years of equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of technical experience and 3 years of management experience; 12 years tech and 5 years mgmt preferred.
• Ability to lead multiple software teams in a distributed environment and manage vendor resources.
• Experience with outsourced teams including vendor selection, onboarding, and performance management.
• Thorough understanding of software development methodologies and AI-native tooling.
• Experience with CI/CD, cloud-native architectures, Terraform, and secure SDLC practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead software engineering teams by setting technical direction and delivering on strategy.
• Champion AI-native and automation-first SDLC practices.
• Collaborate with Product Management to align roadmaps with stakeholder needs.
• Oversee vendor partnerships, including SOWs and delivery quality.
• Establish departmental goals and ensure adherence to standards and security.
• Recruit, develop, and coach engineers and emerging leaders.
