Job summary

EY is seeking an experienced engineer to join Challenger, EY’s program for next-generation AI-enabled services. You’ll turn AI capabilities into durable products, working end-to-end with users, design, and production code in a hybrid office setup.

The role emphasizes founder-like ownership, rapid learning, and disciplined experimentation, with a focus on accessibility, reliability, and responsible use across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant and applicable experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study.
• End-to-end delivery from concept to adoption.
• Technical breadth across frontend, backend, API, data, and cloud tech.
• Applied AI experience with models, retrieval, tools, or similar patterns.
• Evaluation experience with automated testing and behavioral evaluation.
• Live-service ownership including telemetry, debugging, and reliability.
• User-centered practice working with users, designers, and product leaders.
• Engineering craft with clear specs, maintainable code, and sound trade-offs.
• This role requires up to 50% travel and hybrid office presence.

Responsibilities

• Start with the user, work with users and domain experts to understand workflows and identify AI value.
• Test assumptions quickly with concise specs, prototypes, and small releases.
• Own complete product slices across experience, services, data, AI behavior, and integrations.
• Shape AI behavior with instructions, context, retrieval, outputs, and tool use.
• Build the evidence system with representative tasks and automated evaluations.
• Connect outcomes to behavior by instrumenting user journeys and system metrics.
• Engineer for responsible use with clear permission boundaries and data handling.
• Own production quality by releasing incrementally and monitoring live behavior.
• Make practical trade-offs balancing experience, quality, speed, reliability, and cost.
• Contribute reusable patterns and evaluation assets for scalable products.
