Job summary

EY is hiring for an AI-enabled product engineer to join Challenger, EY's program for next-gen services. You will turn AI capabilities into durable products, close to users, product decisions, and production code within a fast, disciplined cycle.

The role emphasizes ownership, test-driven development, and building coherent verticals across experience, services, data and AI behavior. Up to 50% travel with hybrid office options.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• End-to-end delivery: taking software from concept to launch and adoption.
• Technical breadth across frontend, backend, API, data, and cloud technologies.
• Applied AI experience with large language models, retrieval, tools, or similar patterns.
• Evaluation experience: automated testing and behavioral evaluation for probabilistic systems.
• Live-service ownership: telemetry, debugging, reliability, incident response, and performance improvement.
• User-centered practice: working with users, designers, and product leaders to inform decisions.
• Engineering craft: clear specifications, maintainable code, thoughtful review, and solid trade-offs.
• Travel and On-site requirements: up to 50% travel with hybrid office option.

Responsibilities

• Start with the user: work with users and domain experts to understand workflows and identify AI value.
• Test assumptions quickly: turn hypotheses into concise specs, prototypes, and small releases.
• Own complete product slices: build coherent verticals across experience, services, data, AI behavior, and integrations.
• Shape AI behavior: design instructions, context, retrieval, outputs, and tool use with evidence-backed decisions.
• Build the evidence system: create tasks and automated evaluations to prove usefulness, correctness, safety, accessibility.
• Connect outcomes to behavior: instrument journeys to relate adoption to system behavior, latency, failures, and cost.
• Engineer for responsible use: define permission boundaries, data handling, checkpoints, rollback, and safety.
• Own production quality: release incrementally, monitor live behavior, respond to incidents, and improve.
• Make practical trade-offs: balance experience, quality, speed, reliability, and cost.
• Contribute reusable patterns: share components and evaluation assets while ensuring performance in product workflows.
