Job summary

EY seeks an experienced engineer to turn AI capabilities into durable, user-centered products. You’ll work close to users and production code, moving from conversations to prototypes to secure services within the same product cycle.

Speed matters, but accessibility, maintainability, and thoughtful trade-offs count as well. The Challenger program builds and tests real-world AI-enabled services, with small teams delivering value that scales.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience and a track record of end-to-end delivery.
• Strong full-stack capability across modern frontend, backend, API, data and cloud tech.
• Hands-on AI product experience with LLMs, retrieval or tool use.
• Experience designing tests and evaluations for non-deterministic systems.
• Telemetry, reliability, incident response, and performance improvement ownership.
• Experience turning evidence into product decisions with users and leaders.

Responsibilities

• Start with the user, understand workflows, and identify AI-enabled value.
• Test hypotheses with concise specifications, prototypes, and small releases.
• Own complete product slices across experience, services, data, and integrations.
• Shape AI behavior with instructions, context, and tool use.
• Build an evidence system with automated evaluations for usefulness and safety.
• Instrument user journeys to relate adoption to system behavior and cost.
• Ensure responsible use with data handling, checkpoints, and safe rollbacks.
• Release incrementally, monitor live behavior, and improve from failures.
• Balance experience, quality, speed, reliability, and cost.
• Share reusable patterns while owning performance in the product workflow.
