Job summary

Renew Home is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead AI-assisted development, shaping standards and guardrails for safe adoption. You will mentor engineers, influence culture, and drive durable change across the engineering org.

You will collaborate with application teams, own devcontainer and testing infrastructure, and contribute to CI/CD, SDLC, and observability initiatives while working in a fully remote, high-impact role.

Qualifications

7+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on developer tooling, platform engineering, or developer productivity.

Responsibilities

Lead the evolution of the AI Developer Experience for safely leveraging AI in the software development lifecycle.
Drive evaluation, adoption and governance of AI development tooling (code generation, in-editor assistance, agentic workflows).
Improve speed of common developer actions across TypeScript/Node and Python codebases (builds, pre-push hooks, linting, type checks).
Own devcontainer strategy locally and in the cloud for secure, reproducible development across projects.
Maintain and improve local testing frameworks and developer-facing test infrastructure.
Evolve shared internal libraries and configuration systems; ensure documentation and ease of adoption.
Contribute to CI/CD, SDLC, language/library upgrade cycles, onboarding and observability.
