Job summary

Workstream is seeking a founding Staff Engineer for its AI-Native Services team. You will lead architecture, set engineering standards, and guide the building of reusable, scalable agentic workflows. This role is fully remote with occasional in-office visits to support cross-functional work.

You will own the components—how they work, how they fail, and how fast bespoke work becomes reusable—while reporting to leadership and shaping the AINS roadmap. This is a high-impact, zero-to-one opportunity.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and operating AI agent workflows in production.
• Strong engineering judgment across models, orchestration, APIs, data and integrations, permissions, observability, and evaluations.
• Direct interaction with customers or end users to understand and resolve needs.
• Ability to break complex workflows into deterministic steps with testable components.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate production agents and agentic workflows: orchestration, tool use, data connections, deterministic logic, state, and permissions.
