Job summary

Reflection is seeking a Data Product counsel to lead legal support for data acquisition and use in frontier AI models. You will advise on US and international AI laws, design data integrity standards, and partner with product, research, and safety teams to ensure compliant, responsible data practices.

You will translate evolving regulations into actionable guidance, support data-driven partnerships, and help Shape policies for risk-based compliance across the organization.

Qualifications

• Requires J.D. and active U.S. bar membership (or in-house registration).
• Strong ability to exercise independent judgment in evolving regulatory contexts.
• Experience addressing product, regulatory, IP, privacy, and data risks in tech/AI.
• Experience advising on U.S. and international AI laws and data-use matters.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary legal contact for pre-training and data teams on data acquisition for AI training.
• Advise on agentic/search-based product proposals and evolving regulations.
• Provide guidance on IP, privacy, licensing, and AI regulation related to data use.
• Design data integrity standards and risk-based compliance for AI data requirements.
• Collaborate with product, research, engineering, safety, and operations to implement data controls.
• Advise on data considerations in partnerships, data/model collaborations, and research.
• Support building agentic capabilities and compliance for product teams.
• Monitor regulatory developments and translate them into practical leadership guidance.
