Job summary

Reflection AI is seeking a Data Product counsel to lead legal support for data acquisition and model development at the frontier of AI research. You will translate US and international laws, build actionable policies with product and data teams, and guide responsible data usage for cutting-edge models.

You will advise on IP, privacy, licensing, and AI regulation while partnering with product, research, engineering, and safety to maintain a mature compliance posture as the company scales.

Qualifications

• J.D. with bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Experience counselling tech companies on product, regulatory, IP, privacy and commerce risks.
• Proven ability to address complex legal issues in AI, data use, and related areas.
• Experience advising on U.S. and international AI data regulations.
• Ability to operate independently in evolving regulatory environments.

Responsibilities

• Advise pre-training and data teams on laws impacting data acquisition for AI training.
• Counsel on agentic/search-based product proposals and evolving regulatory areas.
• Provide legal guidance on data use risks including IP, privacy, licensing, and AI regulation.
• Design and implement data integrity standards and compliance policies with data/training teams.
• Help establish risk-based compliance posture for AI-specific data requirements.
• Collaborate with product, research, engineering, and safety teams to implement data controls for responsible releases.
• Advise on data considerations in partnerships, collaborations, and commercial transactions.
• Monitor regulatory developments and translate into practical leadership guidance.
