Job summary

Reflection is seeking a Data Product counsel to lead legal support for data acquisition, AI training, and agentic search capabilities. You will translate US and international data laws into actionable product roadmaps and partner with product, research, engineering, and safety teams to ensure responsible development.

Qualifications

• J.D. and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 10+ years of experience product counselling for technology companies, especially AI, cloud, semiconductors, or related tech sectors.
• Experience advising on U.S. and international AI data laws and regulations.
• Ability to explain complex legal requirements to engineers, researchers, and executives.
• Proactive, independent judgment in evolving regulatory landscapes.

Responsibilities

• Act as Reflection’s primary legal contact for pre-training and data teams.
• Advise on agentic and search-based product proposals.
• Provide legal guidance on data used for AI training, including IP, privacy, licensing, and AI regulation.
• Design data integrity standards and risk-based compliance for AI data.
• Collaborate with data and training teams to ensure provenance and usage standards.
• Help establish responsible model release data controls.
• Guide legal considerations in partnerships and commercial arrangements.
• Monitor regulatory developments and translate into practical leadership guidance.
