Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston seeks an Afterschool Site Lead to direct licensed school-age programs, ensuring safety, engagement, and high-quality operations. You’ll oversee daily activities, implement YMCA curriculum, and maintain compliance with state licensing while building strong relationships with families and school partners.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED and 70 clock hours of training in child/youth development or management; 2 college courses equal 100 hours.
• At least one year of experience with youth in licensed settings.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (or ability to obtain).
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state and local background checks and FBI fingerprinting.
• TB test and health screenings per state/local regulations.

Responsibilities

• Keep Children Safe: supervise, headcounts, attendance, emergencies per YMCA/licensing.
• Site Management: oversee afterschool operations and facilities.
• Supervision and Safety: maintain records, monitor activities, ensure safety.
• Behavior Management: apply positive behavior strategies.
• Program & Policy Compliance: follow licensing and safety policies.
• Program Planning and Implementation: age-appropriate activities and curriculum.
• Parent and Community Engagement: communicate with families and partners.
• Administrative Duties: enrollment and attendance records.
• Program Growth and Retention: strategies to increase enrollments.
• Program Quality: ensure curriculum adherence and quality standards.
• Program Evaluation: monitor participation and adjust programs.
• Child Abuse Prevention: report concerns and maintain safety.
