Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking an Afterschool Site Lead to oversee licensed school-age programs in Katy, Conroe, and Humble ISD locations. This role emphasizes safety, supervision, and engaging activities that align with YMCA curricula and licensing rules.

You will manage operations, coordinate centers, and build strong relationships with families, school partners, and YMCA staff while ensuring program quality and compliance. Competitive benefits and flexibility accompany the position.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or GED with 70 clock hours of training in child/youth development, recreation leadership or management.
• Two college courses are equivalent to 100 clock hours.
• At least one year of experience with youth in licensed childcare, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (or ability to obtain).
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Must pass state/local background checks and FBI fingerprinting; TB test/health screenings required.

Responsibilities

• Keep children safe by supervising, conducting headcounts, and maintaining attendance records in accordance with YMCA licensing.
• Serve as Texas Childcare Licensing Site Director ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
• Maintain records, monitor activities for safety, and ensure incident reporting and documentation.
• Implement positive behavior management and ensure respectful environments.
• Ensure program planning, curriculum implementation, and quality assurance per YMCA model.
• Engage parents and community, communicate progress and concerns professionally.
• Maintain enrollment records, attendance, and rosters; support program growth and retention.
• Plan and evaluate activities, adapt to meet diverse needs; monitor program quality and scope.
• Lead program evaluation via YMCA processes and ensure safety and confidentiality.
• Report concerns to Program Director and uphold health, safety, and child protection policies.
