Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking an Afterschool Site Lead to manage a licensed school-age program in Katy, Conroe and Humble ISDs. You’ll ensure safety, supervise staff, and deliver YMCA curriculum with strong family communication.

This part-time role offers meaningful impact, flexible scheduling around ISD calendars, and opportunities to grow within youth development while upholding health, safety, and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 70 clock hours of training in child or youth development, recreational leadership or management.
• At least one year of experience working with youth in a licensed childcare facility, school, church, or similar setting
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (or ability to obtain)
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate activities
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Ability to pass state and local background checks and FBI fingerprinting requirements

Responsibilities

• Keep Children Safe: Create a safe environment; supervise activities per regulations.
• Site Management: Oversee daily afterschool operations as designated Site Director.
• Supervision and Safety: Maintain attendance and incident records; monitor activities.
• Behavior Management: Use positive techniques to promote respectful behavior.
• Program & Policy Compliance: Ensure licensing, health, safety and confidentiality policies are followed.
• Program Planning and Implementation: Oversee age-appropriate activities aligned with YMCA curriculum.
• Parent and Community Engagement: Communicate with families regarding progress and concerns.
• Administrative Duties: Maintain enrollment and attendance records.
• Program Growth and Retention: Develop strategies to grow enrollment and retain participants.
• Program Quality: Plan and implement curriculum-driven activities, indoors and outdoors.
• Program Evaluation: Monitor and adjust program effectiveness; report concerns per policies.
