Job summary

Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service, Inc. in New York, NY, is seeking a Program Director – After School to provide leadership for community youth programs under DYCD and DOE guidelines.

The role requires strong management experience, contract oversight, and the ability to develop engaging educational and recreational programming for children and families, while coordinating with DOE staff and community partners.

Qualifications

• Requires experience with community-based services and DOE/DYCD guidelines.
• Experience supervising staff and managing contracts for youth programs.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to train staff and present to officials.
• Proven ability to develop educational and recreational programming for school-age youth.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site coverage for staff when needed.
• Overall responsibility for program implementation, including hiring of staff.
• Develop educational and recreational summer and school year programming in accordance with DYCD and DOH/SACC guidelines.
• Ensure programs are effective and designed to achieve measurable goals in line with BCS mission and DYCD contractual obligations in collaboration with DOE.
• Facilitate positive partnership with DOE Principal and staff.
• Direct reporting to DYCD Program Manager and attendance at DYCD Director meetings.
• Oversee and monitor DYCD Connect Database for contract compliance reporting and enrollment.
• Plan and coordinate recruitment, enrollment, retention and referral efforts of After School participants.
• Coordinate PTA, BRT, and SLT meetings and staffing.

Associate degree in child development or related field

New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential

School-Age Child Care Credential

Two years of college with 18 credits in Child Development/Elementary Education/Physical Education/Recreation or related field

Bachelor’s Degree with strong management and youth development experience

MSW or equivalent Master’s Degree preferred
