Job summary

After-School All-Stars is seeking a part-time Program Leader in Los Angeles to support the daily after-school program. You will help plan and run activities, maintain safety and supervision with a 20:1 ratio, and coordinate with school staff and families to ensure a positive program experience.

The role requires effective communication, teamwork, and the ability to respond to incidents. Evenings and weekends may be required, with some travel for events and trainings.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students in K-12 recreational, educational or community settings.
• Ability to collaborate with school staff, officials, parents and community leaders.
• Familiarity with quality criteria for after-school programs.
• Strong communication and situational awareness for safety and incidents.
• Background clearances including Tuberculosis screening and DOJ/FBI Live Scan.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in planning and implementing the after-school program under supervision.
• Maintain a 20:1 student ratio using recruitment and retention strategies.
• Develop positive relationships with youth, guardians and staff.
• Communicate attendance and program progress data to supervisor.
• Prepare materials and create engaging academic, cultural and recreational activities.
• Supervise activities to ensure a safe, supportive environment.
• Attend meetings and participate in professional development as needed.
• Travel for off-site meetings, trainings and events when required.
