Job summary

Viasat is seeking a Wire Harness Designer to create cable and harness design packages for aviation and space applications. You will generate wire lists, assembly drawings, specify connectors and wires, and collaborate with systems, electrical, test, and operations engineering teams to ensure a quality, manufacturable product.

The role requires SolidWorks experience, knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620, and the ability to communicate effectively.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in aviation/space applications.
• Proficient in SolidWorks or CAD-based wire harness tools.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Solid understanding of IPC/WHMA-A-620 and electrical schematics.
• Experience creating fabrication drawings and related BOMs; familiar with standardization documentation.
• Familiar with Agile or PLM platforms.
• US citizenship required
• Up to 15-20% travel.

Responsibilities

• Generate cable and harness design packages for aviation/space applications.
• Participate in group discussions and design reviews.
• Assist programs in identifying critical components and design features.
