Job summary

Viasat is seeking a Wire Harness Designer to design cables and harnesses for aviation and space applications. You will generate wire lists, assembly drawings, specify connectors and wires, and collaborate with systems, electrical, test and operations groups to ensure manufacturability.

The role requires experience with SolidWorks or CAD tools, IPC/WHMA-A-620 knowledge, and the ability to create fabrication drawings and BOMs. Travel up to 15–20% is expected; US citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Associate of Science Degree in technology or related field; 5+ years in aviation/space.
• Strong experience with SolidWorks or CAD-based wire harness design tools.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Solid understanding of IPC/WHMA-A-620 and electrical schematics.
• Experience creating fabrication drawings and BOMs; standardization documentation.

Responsibilities

• Generate cable and harness design packages for aviation and space applications.
• Participate in group discussions with cross-functional teams.
• Assist programs in identifying critical components and design features.
