Job summary

Viasat is seeking a Wire Harness Designer to join our team. You will design cables and harnesses, generate wire lists and assembly drawings, specify connectors and wires, and collaborate with systems, electrical, test and operations engineering to deliver quality, manufacturable products.

Requirements include 5+ years in aviation/space, proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, and knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards; US citizenship is required and some travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 5+ years in aviation/space applications.
• Solid experience with SolidWorks or other CAD-based wire harness design tools.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Familiar with IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
• Experience creating fabrication drawings and BOMs; standardization documentation.

Responsibilities

• Generate sophisticated cable and harness design packages for aviation and space applications.
• Participate in group discussions and design reviews.
• Identify critical components and design features and challenges with programs.
