Job summary

Saab West Lafayette is seeking a Technical Writer to join a team that supports the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk aircraft. You will serve as the local SME for technical writing, guide inspectors, and manage NCRs, FAIs, and MRB dispositions while aligning with ISO/AS quality standards.

The role requires AS degree in quality/technical writing or 3+ years in manufacturing quality, with strong communication skills and the ability to work across shifts.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM discipline OR 3 years’ related experience in a manufacturing quality role required.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operation is required
• Ability to articulate technical product/process requirements for electro-mechanical assembly
• Interpret and revise written documentation/work instructions for consistency and efficiency

Responsibilities

• Serve as the local SME for technical writing and provide guidance/training for inspectors across multiple shifts
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership
• Identify common/repeated quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
• Develop best practices for technical writing throughout the organization; maintain/update best practices
• Responsible for NCRs, Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions
• Develop knowledge of customer/industry quality requirements (ISO/AS standards)
• Facilitate and develop controls/solutions to provide high-quality products on schedule
• Act as primary contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments
• Contribute to Saab’s people-first culture and core values
• Other projects and tasks as assigned
