Job summary

RTX is seeking a Mechanical Test Solutions Engineer to join the Test Solutions Engineering team in Tucson, AZ. You will design, analyze, prototype, and implement high‑reliability test fixtures and environmental stations supporting complex weapon systems.

Occasional CONUS travel to customer sites or suppliers is generally required; international travel is optional. This role focuses on engineering development, factory production, and sustainment across product lifecycles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM discipline obtained by start date.
• Experience using parametric 3D CAD software to generate 3D solid models, assemblies, and 2D drawings.
• Experience in mechanical design through coursework, research, or hands-on projects.
• Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities

• Research, plan, and design custom mechanical test solutions for vibration, thermal, hydraulic, RF, and EO environments.
• Conceptualize and implement mechanical systems that integrate with state-of-the-art test technologies.
• Create 3D assemblies and detailed 2D drawings using CAD tools.
• Ensure data packages follow drafting standards (ASME Y14 or ISO GD&T).
• Validate test systems against accuracy, repeatability, and reliability requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to diagnose issues and implement improvements.
