Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our West Des Moines, IA MRO facility. You will plan, design and execute activities related to the maintenance, repair & overhaul of Collins Aerospace products and the effective operation of Collins facilities.

The role supports 2nd shift with typical hours 3:30 PM–Midnight, with possible earlier start (as early as 1:00 PM–9:30 PM); relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• Typically requires STEM degree and 2+ years of experience, or an advanced degree.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
• Experience with machining/fixture design and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Designs and develops manufacturing repair and overhaul processes for products.
• Develops procedures for economical product overhaul in cooperation with the production department and FAA Repair Station requirements.
• Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over applicable variables; services, troubleshoots and solves production process problems with processes or equipment already in operation.
• May make recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials.
• Proposes the sequence of operations and installations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other processes to ensure efficiency and optimize performance.
• Participates in the development of manufacturing processes applicable to statistical process control to ensure compliance and effective production.
• Checks and validates that mandatory modifications, programs, and bulletins are incorporated or complied with.
