Job summary
Collins Aerospace in West Des Moines, IA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to design and execute maintenance, repair and overhaul processes for aerospace products. You will plan, design and optimize manufacturing activities, working with cutting-edge tech and supporting 2nd shift hours from 3:30 PM to Midnight with potential earlier start times.
The role requires a STEM degree with 2+ years of relevant experience or an advanced degree, plus knowledge of lean principles, GD&T and 3D modeling.
Qualifications
- Typically requires STEM degree and 2+ years of experience or an advanced degree.
- Lean manufacturing principles: understanding and application.
- MS Office proficiency; MS Project a plus.
- Machining/assembly with fixture design and GD&T.
- Experience with vacuum brazing, heat treat, TIG/laser welding, EDM.
- 3D printing for tools/fixtures and fixtures design experience.
- SolidWorks modeling experience.
Responsibilities
- Designs and develops manufacturing repair/overhaul processes.
- Develops procedures for economical product overhaul per FAA requirements.
- Tests and measures during production; troubleshoots processes/equipment.
- Recommends new equipment and materials for efficiency.
- Specifies tooling fabrication processes and sequence of operations.
- Contributes to statistical process control for compliance.
- Ensures modifications and bulletins are incorporated per regulatory requirements.
- Ensures legal compliance and quality standards.
